STS performed all re-engineering tasks to convert this
international manufacturer's in-house software from its form as a series of
separate Visual Basic / Access applications, into an integrated web application.
We completely redesigned the database, using modern CASE tools (ERwin)
and SQL Server 2000 and Internet Information Sever 5 for Windows 2000.
Formerly, this client needed to install numerous separate software applications
with poorly or non-integrated databases, on a large number of
workstations. The lack of data integration resulted in similar or same
data being entered many times, each in its separate application.
Centralized role-based security was implemented across all
applications, to control user access to only those applications or application
functions for which the user is authorized. The newly engineered database
and applications reduced significantly the amount of duplicate data entry and
potential for data errors. By architecting this as a web application, users at
multiple locations now need only their standard internet browser and a URL to
access the applications, eliminating update installation support.
STS used Visual Interdev, VBScript, JavaScript, XML, cascading
style sheets, HTML and DHTML for Internet Explorer 5, to create the
code that implements application functionality, including data entry, search and
view, and print functionality for reports.

STS is the primary designer and developer for an
internet venture that will provide extensive services to the automotive repair
and insurance industries. In addition to general technical oversight and
architectural guidance, STS is designing and building a new and proprietary
production scheduling system.
Taking into consideration personnel and equipment capabilities
and availability, an automobile repair plan has every step scheduled, with the
appropriate resources assigned. In a busy shop, this will make the
difference between on-time delivery (and customer satisfaction), or a chaotic,
emergency-filled production environment.
The system can provide instant feedback for repair managers as
to vehicle status, backlogs, and can aid managers to optimally schedule
vehicles for maximum profitability and throughput. This will also fit into a
broader workflow system of the larger insurance process, which STS is also
helping to design.

STS was a key systems architect and software designer and developer for InnTechnology, Inc. STS designed and, in many
cases, built and tested software to interface with property management system, assign
hotel guests unique phone numbers for voice and fax calls, correctly route and bill calls,
and provide reports. This included specification of interfaces, coding practices, language
and development system selection, and so on.
The product is currently installed at several hotels in downtown Los
Angeles, and has been selected by Hilton Corporate as their new in-room fax service.
Installations are ongoing throughout late 1998 and into 1999. Recently the product
was selected by the new Venetian hotel in Las Vegas, with over 3,000 rooms to be serviced
by the product.
The product runs on Windows NT, and used Visual Basic and Visual C++,
along with an ODBC-based database for the majority of the software development.

STS redeveloped a unique film subtitling system for Golden Era
Productions. Golden Era produces, among other things, public information and training
films for the Church Of Scientology.
Because of the international scope of the Church, Golden Era's films have to be translated
into numerous languages. Holding extremely high audio-visual standards, these films
are distributed on 16mm film, and delivered on customized, state-of-the-art 16mm film
projectors. Each film had to be subtitled in the traditional fashion into many
languages, and distributed world wide.
Wishing to reduce this production time, Golden Era developed a unique
electronic subtitling system, in which an LED screen is mounted below the film screen.
Translated text is sent to this screen, synchronized to the film's playback, in
whatever language is needed, from an electronic source. Thus a single copy of the
film could be produced, with electronic forms of subtitling being distributed with the
film as needed.
This system worked well, but after a couple years needed revision to
improve the quality for films with more dialog. STS performed this revision, using
object-oriented design principles and Borland C++, as well as reviewing code used in the
embedded controller for the display itself. This involved specialized timing
constraints for synchronization, serial I/O, and special compression techniques. The
system is now in production and use across the world.
Your can read the client's testimonial
on our work.

STS performed system architecture and design, as well as object-oriented
design and core technology development and, for an international organization's
telecommunications systems. This included all aspects of messaging, delivery,
tracking and accountability of electronic messages. The system included a prototype
of a complete package identification and tracking system as well.
Using modern operating systems and development techniques and
environments, this system has been deployed world wide to between 150 and 250 locations,
and was designed with many advanced features providing a custom fit to for
organization's communications and security needs.

STS performed system architecture and design, and developed core
object-oriented technologies for an extensive document handling and knowledge capture
system. This included the ability the introduce thousands of scanned pages per
day
into the system, as well as electronic documents. The workflow provided for entry of
documents, indexing to capture knowledge, and an extensive research capability for
coordinating data and finding information within the system.
This system is currently in use, collecting documents from hundreds of
sources and providing valuable information to the knowledge workers in that organization.
The system used modern operating systems, databases and programming languages and
techniques in its realization.

STS performed needs analysis, resource procurement and project management
for S.G. Hauser Associates, Inc., industrial
design consultants well known for their designs of medical equipment. Their client
wanted several different types of input controller prototyped and demonstrated. This
involved a simulation of the actual medical device, and several specialized controllers
that had never been built before.
STS wrote up all delivery plans and project management documents, and
acquired the personnel for this production, running the project and its personnel and
assuring complete and exact performance of all parts of the project.
The demonstration had to show the actual working controller in the
simulated environment, including a stacked double knob, sliding buttons that responded to
slide position and to pressure, and several others. STS handled the development,
determining exact specifications for the devices, and getting these fabricated, both
mechanically and electronically as needed. The demonstration of all devices was
done, and their client was satisfied, providing S.G. Hauser the contract for full
development.
